Aztec Sacrifices at Tenochtitlan Two 500 year old ritual depositions were found in Templo Mayor in Tenochtitlan consisting of a sawfish blade, clay models, a broken human skull mask, a child's skull, a clay pot with an effigy of the deity of fertility, sea shells, turtle shells, snail shells, and green stones. These items are all related to the germination of corn and/or the earth deity of fertility, Cihuacoatl Quilatzli. There is a story about this deity, where she would visit and leave an infant, then promise to return for it. However, the people watching the cradle saw an obsidian knife and it was interpreted that the goddess needed more sacrifices. One particular ceremony was called titl, where a young girl dressed as Cihuacoatl Quilatzli was beheaded with a sawfish blade. The area around the ritual was usually surrounded by snail shells, sea shells, and green stones because it represented the cold environment in the underworld where the earth deities lived. Sacrifices

The gate stands still, lonely in the water Facing the land, sun, and mountains in the distance. Its silhouette dancing behind to the song of the sea Brilliant light of a million colors flash on the surface.

Extended Metaphor Poem Life is a Meal
Life is a meal
Preparations for us
And to begin cooking.
When we're young,
Basic ingredients are
Thrown in the pot.
As we grow, more
Items are mixed in.
Spices are the
Excitement and surprises
Everyone enjoys.
The wrong ingredients
Are the bad things
In life.
Everything that makes
People the way
They are, all mixed into
One.
As we grow older,
The heat dies down,
The stirring slows.
At the moment of death,
Our meal is placed
Onto a dish
And eaten,
As we fade
From the
World.
Life is a meal.
Essay on Galileo Galilei
Galileo Galilei
Galileo Galilei was born February 15, 1564 and died January 8 1642. He was an Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher; and was also known as the father of modern observational astronomy, modern physics, science, and modern science. Galileo also discovered the phases of Venus, the four big satellites of Jupiter (called Galilean moons), and made an observation and analysis of sunspots.
How was Galileo Galilei important to history? Galileo played a major role in the Scientific Revolution. For a while, people believed that the universe revolved around the earth because that was Ptolemy's reasoning. But astronomers and philosophers began to counter this belief. Copernicus was the first to believe in a heliocentric universe, where the sun is at the center instead of the earth. Astronomers who came after, such as Brahe and Kepler, supported this idea. Galileo was able to prove that this was right by his invention of the telesope. He tried to convince people by writing about it, but was persecuted by the Catholic church. Today we know that the planets revolve around the sun, and we can learn more about space with the invention of the telescope.
The music sings its spirit out
Through us it rejoices
The piece is the brain
We are its mouth
So that all can hear its melodious tune
And what it has to say
Sorrow, excitement, peaceful
The song's life pours out
We love them so
And when it is over,
We listen, again and again.
Hey Kayla~
I was looking at my wiki page and I saw that you asked what the definitions for orotund
and magniloquent were. Well, here they are:
Orotund--
1) characterized by strength, fullness, richness, and clearness
2) pompous or bombastic<---(no idea what that means!)
Magniloquent--
1) speaking or expressed in a lofty or grandoise style; pompous; bombastic; boastful
So, they pretty much mean the same thing! See ya later!
